Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is an enigmatic singer, composer and performer. The singer combines jazz from the soul genre with R&B to create a unique mixture. From Broadway to European festival and clubs, the singer has done work everywhere. Sunshine's real name is Denise White. She hails from Chester Pennsylvania, where she started her musical career by playing the piano and singing in church. In Atlanta she went to Spellman College where her musical instruction began with Atlanta's R&B Scene. In 2005, she was commissioned to be the main keyboardist for Tyler Perry's stage production Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday was the Grammy and Tony Award winner who approached her in 2007 to serve as the director of chorus for Dreamgirls the stage show of Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine came to national notice during the four shows at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was then invited to sing at the Obama's inauguration ceremony in 2009.
